HTC reveals Ice Cream Sandwich

Smartphone users are typically familiar with software updates, which can significantly enhance the performance and functionality of the device. Android users will be thrilled to hear about the Android 4.0 upgrades coming soon. Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has already released the names of its upcoming devices that will incorporate the new software. The highly anticipated 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available on select Sprint, AT&T and T-mobile htc models.

HTC announced 16 devices to include the sweet Ice Cream Sandwich, including the Droid Incredible 2, Amaze 4G, Evo 3D, Evo Design 4G and Sensation 4G. The Rezound and the Rhyme will also be getting an update. Those who jumped at the early opportunity to nab the HTC Thunderbolt and HTC Vivid will be glad to know that they will also get an update of Google’s newest software.

According to HTC’s statement: “We’re in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks. The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow. Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.”

The only carrier branded HTC devices to get the updated software so far are AT&T’s HTC Vivid and Sprint’s Nexus S 4G. T-Mobile has announced a free giveaway of the HTC Sensation in a Web-only promotion through March 20. The normally $150 (with contract) device will be offered for free with an instant $150 discount. This special promotion is only the beginning, as other carriers will soon release other enticing deals as well, to promote the new Ice Cream Sandwich.
